Moody, mood swing, feeling quite hopeless. Hormones or something else?
21/03/2017
Definitely feeling more like myself now. Even when your boss he's underwhelmed after your work earned him the project milestone. The value in my work is not going to be diminished by this.

We are all in this together. Solidarity.

2017 Weekly - Week 11
12/03/2017
Letter to My Daughter, a short book by Maya Angelou and every chapter I read I lament one chapter less for me to find solace and inspiration later on.
She talked about how to be rainbow in someone's cloud, how to be a lover of mankind without being a philanthropist, how not to be reduced by the adverse events which may come or is in your way.
That's just the first two chapters I read and I think I may have found my favorite book of the year.
13/03/2017
Hard talk, when you no longer share the same outlook about future with someone. Not giving up.
14/03/2017
Have reconciled and smiling to each other again (yes we were that childish).

2017 Weekly - Week 10
07/03/2017
Away three days for a conference. It's always good to hear what other people's experience in doing what I do. Of course, people tend to report the "good" results. That may give the impression that research is straightforward and "easy". Far from that, it's tortuous and sometimes circular. If we scientists can all be 100% honest reporting our experience, that would set the expectation more realistic.
10/03/07
I've decided to keep distance from certain friends for some time. Social network is great in reconnecting people but the information overload side of social network starts to tire me. To be more precise, not the amount of information which fatigues me I must add, but people's immediate responses without reading the whole piece. Reacting to headlines or just titles shows lack of rigor and thinking, perhaps ultimately lacking interest in what I have to share. Whichever the reason, one thing I can do is to stay away from them by keeping my space free.

2017 Weekly - Week 9
26/02/2017
I am not known for anything physical but I am quite taken by my gym routines these days. Monday Zumba, Tuesday HIIT, Thursday and Sunday self (relaxing) training, I like them all. Having an instructor pushing me does make a difference and that's why I have it two days a week now. However, it's actually rather therapeutic to exercise on my own. I frequently have all kinds of ideas flowing out of my brain while running on a treadmill, doing sit-ups or chest press.
One of my goals is to run 5000 meters under 40 minutes. At the moment, I am 43 minutes. Let's see how long it takes to improve one minute of my record.
27/02/2017
People like to gang up, like hyenas, especially at work. If you don't go along, you are outsider. There is no such things as minding your own business. The eco system is such that you are either with me or against me. Sad.
28/02/2017
It was a cold and rainy night and the auditorium was full of people listening to a nuclear fusion talk, from young to grey, only in Cambridge! It was a well prepared lecture, pitched at the right level for the general public and well delivered.
One question was about the pessimistic view of nuclear fusion never going to work. "Where is the evidence?", the speaker replied. It is difficult but the field is making steady progress. And just like many things in life, the only way to find out is to try, especially considering the financial requirement is a tenth of many big research organizations' budgets. Bravo. That's why I love science. Let the data talk and just give it a go.
